Mechanical Failure Analysis
We provide detailed mechanical failure analysis of components and plant items such as the following:
Rotating machinery
Bearing failure analysis
Plant process and industrial failures
Failure of supporting structures due to mechanical vibrations and dynamic loads.
Investigation Process
When undertaking mechanical failure analysis or determining the root cause of failure of mechanical components and plant processes, some or all of the following investigation processes are carried out:
- Evaluation of historical HMI computer information
- Human information
- Operational and maintenance records
- Scanning electron microscopy and X-Ray analysis
- Metallurgical analysis
- Established scientific literature
- Engineering calculations
- Detailed in site inspection
- Evaluation of failure debris
- Non Destructive Testing (NDT)
Case Study : Kinleith Paper Machine Fire
In 2001 a paper machine processing facility caught fire at Kinleith, New Zealand. Andrew McGregor was engaged to investigate the cause and provide recommendations to prevent a recurrence. The fire spread to other parts of the processing facility before being extinguished by firemen.
Testimonial
